Raleigh City Council Candidates' Housing Report Cards Released; Early Voters Can Check Before Voting

Voters in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina, remained in the early voting period on October 26, and local housing advocacy organization CITYBUILDER recently released its 2026 Raleigh City Council candidate housing report cards for voters to consult before casting ballots. The report cards evaluate candidates on support for new housing, affordable housing investment, zoning reform and past voting records, and include candidate questionnaire responses and candidate forum videos.
The organization said the next city council will make decisions on housing choices that will matter for years, and that candidates' statements on affordability do not always match their actual positions, so voters need to distinguish before voting. Early voting in Raleigh runs through October 31 and Election Day is November 3, when voters will elect a mayor and council members and vote on housing, transportation and other bonds.
The organization also noted that Raleigh is moving to staggered four-year terms for mayor and council, so the length of this year's winners' terms will vary by seat, and voters should learn what is on their own district's ballot before voting.
