BRUNSWICK, Maine — The Bowdoin College Museum of Art and Curtis Memorial Library have partnered to welcome the touring Dunlap broadside copy of the Declaration of Independence, with a week of community events opening on October 26. Curtis Memorial Library (23 Pleasant Street) will host events from October 26 to 29, including reflections on the Declaration from community leaders: Maulian Bryant, executive director of the Wabanaki Alliance; Bob Greene, a retired journalist; Mufalo Chitam, executive director of the Maine Immigrants' Rights Coalition; and Janet Martin, a professor of government at Bowdoin College. The week also includes a community quilt made with ArtVan inspired by the Declaration, plus a family open house and youth activities.

The Declaration itself will be on public view at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art on October 30 and 31, with a preview for school groups on October 29. Admission is free, but visitors must reserve timed tickets in advance. Organizers invite residents to reflect on one question: What does the Declaration of Independence mean to you?
