Maryland Governor Moore Campaigned for Question 3 at a Bowie Voting Site on October 26 as an Obama Ad Launched the Same Day

BOWIE, Md. — As early voting continues statewide, Maryland Governor Wes Moore and Democratic leaders came on the morning of October 26 to a busy Bowie voting site to rally support for Question 3. The organizing group Fight Back Maryland held a 9:30 a.m. rally urging voters to approve the constitutional amendment. Supporters say the measure is a countermeasure against redistricting advanced in Republican-led states with President Trump's backing.
The campaign for Question 3 got another boost on October 26: a 30-second advertisement launched in which former President Barack Obama speaks directly to Maryland voters, urging them to vote in favor.
Question 3 would not immediately enact a new congressional map. Instead, it would amend the Maryland Constitution to give state lawmakers greater latitude in drawing congressional district boundaries; that could clear the way for Democrats to target Maryland's 1st Congressional District, whose current representative, Andy Harris, is the only Republican in the state's congressional delegation. Opponents argue the change would give politicians more power to draw districts for their own political advantage.
