Montana's Governor Urges Nominations of Outstanding Veterans, With the Governor's Veteran Commendation Deadline on October 28
HELENA, Mont. — Montana Governor Greg Gianforte is urging residents statewide to nominate an outstanding veteran in their community for the 2026 Montana Governor's Veteran Commendation before the deadline of 11:59 p.m. Mountain Standard Time on October 28. According to the governor's office reminder, the commendation honors veterans who served honorably and continue to make meaningful contributions to their communities after leaving service; 230 veterans have received it since Gianforte took office.
Nominations can be submitted through the state's nomination website. Recipients will be announced on Veterans Day and honored at ceremonies across the state in 2027. The governor said recognizing veterans is one of the greatest honors of his tenure, and that many recipients have continued serving their communities after retirement. With two days left, he urged residents to act quickly to recommend a deserving veteran and not miss the deadline. Nomination forms and details are available at recognizeveterans.mt.gov.
