New Mexico's First Tech Week Opens October 26, with Quantum and Aerospace in Focus

Monday, October 26, 2026 · States · GSM News

Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico, welcomed the opening of the state's first New Mexico Tech Week on October 26. The five-day event runs through October 31, at venues across Albuquerque and Santa Fe. It is New Mexico's first statewide technology celebration, expected to draw more than 2,000 attendees, more than 200 speakers and more than 50 partner organizations, with programming including a tech festival, a quantum hackathon, startup workshops, Founders Day, a film festival and venture-capital panel discussions. Most events are free to attend and are independently organized by members of New Mexico's tech community.

The week comes against the backdrop of the state's rapid development in quantum computing, advanced energy, aerospace and venture investment: in May 2026, the state Economic Development Department launched the $25 million, state-backed New Mexico Quantum Venture Studio, with a campus in downtown Albuquerque's Innovation District; the state has also launched ABQ-Net, described as America's first open-access, entanglement-based quantum network, and a $4 million quantum testbed partnership between QuEra Computing and Roadrunner Venture Studios, while Quantinuum has expanded its Albuquerque presence and become a Tech Week sponsor. Organizers say Tech Week's goal is to draw the nation's attention to New Mexico's strength in talent, research, creativity and investment momentum.
