Public Comment on South Carolina's Environmental Regulation Renaming Package Closes at 5 p.m. on October 26

Columbia, Richland County, South Carolina — South Carolina's Department of Environmental Services sought public comment on a package of environmental regulation revisions updating agency names and related wording, with the deadline at 5 p.m. on October 26. The package, Document No. 5473, covers five regulations on shellfish, natural public swimming areas, radioactive materials, solar energy systems and access to restricted information, specifically R.61-47, R.61-50, Part A of R.61-63, R.61-107.20 and R.61-117.
The department said the revisions reflect agency changes following the reorganization of the former Department of Health and Environmental Control, correct related statutory citations and make non-substantive wording adjustments; the revisions themselves have not yet taken effect, and the final text will be as set out in the complete published content. Comments could be sent to the designated email address or mailed to the Department of Environmental Services at 2600 Bull Street, Columbia. The department reminded the public that although the package is mainly about renaming, readers should rely on the full text and check the actual changes item by item, and that comments submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
