More Than 509,000 Colorado Ballots Already Returned in Early Voting, Outpacing the 2022 Midterms

PAGOSA SPRINGS, Colo. — A Colorado Newsline report published on October 26 shows that 509,364 Colorado voters have already returned ballots, about 12.6% of all active voters in the state, most of them mail ballots. By party, Democrats account for 33.4% of returned ballots and Republicans for 24.2%, while unaffiliated voters make up 41.3% of ballots returned; unaffiliated voters represent just over half of all registered voters statewide.
The report notes that early turnout from all parties is outpacing the 2022 midterm elections, and that unaffiliated and Democratic turnout is also ahead of 2024. About 68.5% of ballots so far were cast by voters aged 55 and older. El Paso County, the state's most populous, has returned the most ballots, accounting for 12.5% of all ballots returned statewide.
Voters who register on October 26 itself can still receive a ballot by mail. Voters have until 7 p.m. on November 3 to return a ballot at a drop box or polling center or to vote in person, and a valid ID is required to vote in person.
