Short Film 'Rainbow Rider' Screens Twice in Durham on October 25: Director and Lead Attend for Discussion
On October 25, the short film Rainbow Rider screened twice in Durham, North Carolina: a 3 p.m. matinee at the Fluid Community Garage and a 7 p.m. show at the Shadowbox Studio, with director Georgia Kraus, producer Tran Hoang Calvin and the film's lead, Shelley Lechti, all attending for post-screening conversation and community discussion. The short is touring several North Carolina cities and Knoxville, with Durham one stop on the tour; both screenings featured the creative team in person, so audiences could ask the director and lead questions directly after watching. For audiences in the Research Triangle, it was a small but deep Sunday cultural event: no big-screen spectacle, but the chance for face-to-face exchange, with the film's story connected to community discussion so the meaning of the screening went beyond the showing itself. The organizer said this was only the first leg of the film's multi-round tour, and the two Durham screenings opened the itinerary that follows.
