Electric Air Taxi Company Plans Aerial Network in Three Texas Cities

Reporting on October 25 shows that electric aviation company Archer Aviation plans to build an electric air-taxi network in Austin, Houston and the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas. Announced on October 23, the plan will use the company's all-electric "Midnight" aircraft, which it says can shorten 60-to-90-minute drives into 10-to-20-minute flights. The Austin network is planned with three stations: Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, Austin Executive Airport and the Circuit of the Americas helipad; the Houston network with five stations, including two commercial airports and Galveston; and the Dallas-Fort Worth network with seven stations. Company founder and CEO Adam Goldstein said Texas is setting the benchmark for the next generation of aviation. The company has not yet announced a launch date for passenger service; the routes are still proposals and require regulatory approval. The company said its Texas operations will be part of the federal eVTOL Integration Pilot Program, and that the U.S. Electric Aerial Corridor Alliance it formed with BETA Technologies and Macquarie Capital is working with the Texas Department of Transportation to study airport charging facilities. The "Midnight" aircraft was on public display at the Circuit of the Americas Grand Prix through October 25.
