Seahawks Release Wide Receiver Foster on October 26; He Had Drawn Attention in a Documentary Series

Monday, October 26, 2026 · Sports · GSM News

Seattle, King County, Washington — The Seattle Seahawks released wide receiver Montorie Foster Jr. on October 26. The move appeared in the National Football League's transactions for the day, as the Seahawks adjusted their roster after a big home win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Foster had drawn considerable attention in an HBO documentary series and became familiar to fans, including a widely circulated scene of him with his mother by a lake. An undrafted player out of Michigan State, he worked his way onto the Seahawks' roster through training camp and the practice squad, and was with the team during last season's championship run. The Seahawks made the move after beating the Chiefs on Sunday night, with the team off to a strong start in the new season. In February 2026, he had signed a reserve/future contract with the team.

This is not the first time Foster has been released by the Seahawks. During last year's training camp he was cut for injury reasons, then returned on the practice squad. Whether another team will pick him up after this release, or whether he might return to Seattle in another capacity, remains to be seen in subsequent transactions.
