Montpelier, Washington County, Vermont — On Oct. 26, Vermont Gov. Phil Scott announced that the state's agriculture and forestry disaster recovery assistance program is now accepting online applications, with the first round of assistance totaling $31.7 million. Eligible agricultural producers, forest landowners and contract loggers may apply for losses from extreme weather in 2023 and 2024; in the first stage, each applicant may receive 95% of verified losses, up to a cap of $75,000. The program is funded by a federal block grant and was established under the American Relief Act of 2025, and is administered jointly by the Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets and the Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation. Gov. Scott said the assistance cannot fully make up the losses but can help affected businesses keep operating and get through the difficulty. Secretary of Agriculture Anson Tebbetts said disaster recovery often takes years, and the aid will help affected businesses repair facilities and resume production. Applications and details follow the official information published by the state.
