Iowa Corn Harvest 47% Complete, Soybeans 78%; Both Behind Five-Year Average

Monday, October 26, 2026 · States · GSM News

Iowa's corn harvest reached 47% completion, according to the USDA's Crop Progress Report released Monday, October 26 — up sharply from 26% the previous week but still behind the five-year average of 67%. The state's soybean harvest is 78% done, also behind the five-year average of 84%.

In Charles City in northeast Iowa, corn grower Scott Tjaden said harvest activity has picked up steam and that his yields have been above his yearly average. "We were pushing it this year because we thought we had the right environment," he told Brownfield Ag News. "We did feel like the moisture was going to help us out. It didn't get to quite where we thought we could be, but it's still a good crop."

Iowa is a leading U.S. corn and soybean producing state. Despite the big one-week jump, the report shows the state's fall harvest pace remains slower overall than in a typical year.
