Thunder Confirm Serious Injuries to Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace on October 26; Both Need Surgery as Title Odds Slide

Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti confirmed on October 26 that two of the team's starters suffered serious injuries and will need surgery: All-Star Jalen Williams has a fractured fibula and a dislocated ankle on the left side, while Cason Wallace has a labral tear in his left shoulder. Presti did not provide a timeline for either player's return.
Williams was taken off the court on a stretcher late in the Thunder's 108-101 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday, October 25. The defending champions are 3-0 to start the season and still lean on two-time MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren, though Holmgren is dealing with right patellar tendinitis and will miss the October 26 game against the Phoenix Suns.
After the extent of the injuries was detailed, Oklahoma City's championship odds lengthened to +347 as of the evening of October 26, from +238 on October 24, dropping the Thunder's implied title probability 7.2 percentage points from 29.6 percent to 22.4 percent — the largest peak-to-trough decline of any NBA team in betting data dating to July 7. The San Antonio Spurs became the new championship favorite at +290.
