Magic Guard Jalen Suggs Has a Mild Bone Bruise in His Right Knee: Team Says He Will Be Reevaluated in Two Weeks, With No Major Structural Damage

The Orlando Magic announced on Monday, October 26, that guard Jalen Suggs has been diagnosed with a mild bone bruise in his right knee and will be reevaluated in two weeks. The imaging showed no other major structural damage, a diagnosis also reported by ESPN's Shams Charania.
Suggs was injured late in the Magic's 111-102 win over the New York Knicks on Sunday, October 25. With 2:09 remaining in the fourth quarter, his right knee buckled on a fast-break layup attempt in a noncontact play. He stayed on the floor in pain, holding the knee, before being helped to the locker room; he did not return. He finished with 4 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals in 34 minutes.
Head coach Sean Sweeney said after the game that there was no immediate update beyond that Suggs would be evaluated, adding that he had spoken briefly with Suggs and that he was in good spirits. Knicks coach Mike Brown opened his postgame remarks by offering prayers for Suggs.
The two-week mark is a reevaluation date, not a guaranteed return. Suggs, the fifth pick in the 2021 draft, has been limited to 92 games combined over the last two seasons and has career averages of 12.6 points, 3.8 assists and 3.4 rebounds. He had surgery on his left knee in March 2025; this injury is to his right knee.
Orlando, 1-2, is already without forward Paolo Banchero, whose low-grade high ankle sprain is expected to keep him out multiple weeks. Anthony Black, who had 18 points and five assists in his season debut on Sunday, is expected to step into the starting point guard role. The Magic continue their road trip at the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday, October 28.
