ICE Arrests Mexican National Serferino Trinidad Ortega in Garden Grove, California: Twice Removed, With DUI, Cruelty Toward Wife and Police Assault Convictions

GARDEN GROVE, Calif. — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced on October 26 that on October 18 it arrested Serferino Trinidad Ortega, a Mexican national, in Garden Grove, a city in Orange County, California, during a targeted enforcement operation. ICE said Trinidad Ortega has no status to remain in the United States, and that his criminal history includes convictions for two counts of driving under the influence of liquor, two counts of cruelty toward his wife, obstructing a police officer, and battery and assault of a police officer.
"Any illegal alien ICE finds will be deported," said Micah Bock, Assistant Director for Public Affairs at ICE. "ICE is prioritizing Americans' safety, and that starts with removing these violent criminals from our communities."
During the arrest, according to ICE, Trinidad Ortega refused several lawful commands and attempted to evade arrest by barricading his body under his vehicle before officers detained him. He complained of head pain following the arrest and was transported to a hospital for evaluation; after being medically cleared, he was transferred to ICE custody, where he remains pending removal proceedings.
ICE said Trinidad Ortega illegally entered the United States in 2002 and was ordered removed by an immigration judge and removed in October 2002. He later re-entered at an unknown time and place and was removed again in August 2014, and at an unknown date and time entered again. ICE said he remains in custody pending reinstatement of his removal to Mexico.
