Tropical Storm Olana to Fuel Flash Floods and Mudslides in Hawaii Oct. 27-29

Heavy rain is forecast for Hawaii on Oct. 27-29 from Tropical Storm Olana, according to AccuWeather. The storm is expected to stay west of the state, but it brings the risk of flash flooding, mudslides and travel disruptions across the islands.
AccuWeather Lead Hurricane Expert Alexander DaSilva said the developing system is concerning in part because it may approach Hawaii from the west, a unusual direction for tropical systems threatening the islands. Meteorologist Brandon Buckingham added that a Kona storm may form west of the islands around the Halloween weekend and could spread additional rain into early November, depending on its track.
