Wyoming Signs MOU With Federal Permitting Council to Run State and Federal Reviews on the Same Timeline

Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon on October 26 signed a memorandum of understanding with the Federal Permitting Council in Cheyenne to get large projects in Wyoming permitted in a more efficient and timely manner. Permitting Council Executive Director Emily Domenech co-signed the agreement.
The agreement aligns state and federal permitting timelines: state permitting actions can be added to the Federal Permitting Dashboard alongside federal permits, creating greater transparency and avoiding delays on critical infrastructure projects. Gordon said he had been looking forward to the opportunity to ensure better coordination and collaboration with the federal government, and that all new FAST-41 projects from this day forward will be subject to the agreement.
Domenech said Wyoming is now the 10th state to partner with the Permitting Council to run federal and state reviews on the same timeline, ending the pattern in which states wait for the federal government to finish its review before starting their own while projects sit idle. Nancy Vehr, interim director of the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, said the framework streamlines permitting while maintaining rigorous environmental standards.
The announcement was released by the Office of the Governor of Wyoming. FAST-41 is the federal accelerated-permitting framework for major infrastructure projects created under Title 41 of the Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act.
