PHOENIX, Arizona — Governor Katie Hobbs and the Arizona Department of Housing (ADOH) announced $16 million in grant funding to address homelessness. The awards, from the State Housing Trust Fund, will help community organizations and local governments construct more shelter units and ensure continuity of services for Arizonans experiencing homelessness.

"Access to safe shelter is critical for the security and wellbeing of Arizonans," said Governor Hobbs. "With this funding, we will ensure more Arizona families have a roof over their heads and the services they need to get back on their feet." The largest awards include $2 million each to Flagstaff Shelter Services and UMOM New Day Centers in Phoenix; $1 million each to the City of Phoenix, the City of Tucson, Keys to Change, COPA Health and Catholic Charities Community Services; $901,000 to Central Arizona Shelter Services; and $815,000 to Catholic Community Services of Southern Arizona.

"The need for support is great as evidenced by the 78 provider applications we received for this $16 million in homelessness funding," said ADOH Director Ruby Dhillon-Williams. "Our focus is on meeting that need and putting forth funding solutions that help reduce the number of unhoused Arizonans." UMOM chief executive Monique Lopez said the investment will help provide safe shelter and a pathway forward for hundreds of women experiencing homelessness each year.

The administration noted previous investments including $60 million for the Homeless Shelter and Services Fund, $38 million through the Housing Trust Fund for housing insecurity prevention, transitional housing and rapid rehousing, and $13.5 million for eviction prevention and homelessness response.
