Everest: The Other Side Opens Worldwide October 30: Chin and Vasarhelyi Follow a North Face Ski Dream

Everest: The Other Side, from National Geographic Documentary Films, opens exclusively in theaters and IMAX worldwide on October 30. The film is directed and produced by Academy Award winners Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, and received a special screening at New York's IMAX Lincoln Square on October 26.
According to the official announcement released by Disney via Business Wire, the film follows elite ski mountaineers Jim Morrison and Hilaree Nelson, who fell in love while reaching the pinnacle of their sport. Their shared dream was to climb Everest's direct North Face, described as the most difficult and dangerous climb on the mountain and the most coveted ski line on earth, and ski down from the summit. Thousands have summited via Nepal's southeast ridge, the announcement notes, but only a handful have reached the top by this route, and no one had successfully skied down.
The film is edited by Bob Eisenhardt and Simona Ferrari, with cinematography by Clair Popkin, Jimmy Chin and Christopher Murphy; producers also include Shannon Dill, Anna Barnes and Janet Yang. Running time is about 1 hour 50 minutes, rated PG-13.
