Montana Motor Vehicle Division Adds Vehicle Services at Exam Stations in Missoula County and Elsewhere; Transfers, Replacement Titles and Renewals in One Stop

Tuesday, October 27, 2026 · States · GSM News

Missoula, Missoula County, Montana, and locations across the state, October 27 — The Montana Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) has begun offering vehicle services at some of its exam stations this month, so that while obtaining or replacing a driver's license, residents can also complete out-of-state vehicle transfers, replacement vehicle titles, and registration renewals and replacements at the same location in one stop. MVD Administrator Laurie Bakri said the change was introduced in cooperation with counties willing to participate, and that representatives of one large county (Missoula County) and one small county (Jefferson County) were consulted during development. Bakri said participating counties are excited about shortening lines, and that residents going to the county "should expect lines to be shorter there as well." As with changes to driver's license services in recent years, the new services will be rolled out gradually statewide; counties will join only if they voluntarily choose to convert in cooperation with the division, and counties that have not converted will continue to handle vehicle business as before. The division reminds residents to confirm before visiting whether their local exam station has opened vehicle services, to avoid a wasted trip; the list of participating counties and service hours are as announced by the division.
