Hijack-Threat Texts Found on Newark-Bound Flight: United UA1681 Returns to Las Vegas, 25-Year-Old Arrested on Felony Charges
In Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and a criminal complaint, United Airlines Flight UA1681 departed Las Vegas for Newark on the evening of October 24 carrying 150 passengers and six crew members. After takeoff, crew members saw text messages on a passenger's phone containing threats including "gonna hijack this plane" and "crash ur row only," and the flight turned back, landing safely at Harry Reid International Airport at about 11:05 p.m.
The passenger, Dante Milne, 25, of Clifton, New Jersey, was arrested after deplaning and charged with felony counts related to terrorist threats. He is held at the Clark County Detention Center on $10,000 bail and was scheduled to appear in court on October 27. No one was injured.
