Italian Diagnostic Imaging Company Bracco to Invest $230 Million in First U.S. Plant in Sanford, Lee County, North Carolina, Creating 200 Jobs

Sanford, Lee County, North Carolina — Governor Josh Stein announced on October 27 that Bracco, the Italian diagnostic imaging company, will invest $230 million in Sanford to build its first U.S. manufacturing plant, producing injectable contrast media and creating an expected 200 jobs. Founded in 1927 and headquartered in Milan, Italy, Bracco Imaging is a global leader in diagnostic imaging with production facilities in Europe, Asia and Canada; the United States is its largest market. The new sterile manufacturing plant will support growing demand for injectable contrast media, shortening delivery times and lowering transportation costs by bringing supply closer to U.S. hospitals and patients. Fulvio Renoldi Bracco, vice chairman and CEO of Bracco Imaging, said the company chose North Carolina for its talent and life sciences ecosystem and, as a family-owned company, invests for the long term and looks forward to growing with the Sanford community for decades. Governor Stein said North Carolina's longstanding strengths in manufacturing, innovation and workforce development give companies like Bracco the confidence to invest. The project is a major step in Bracco's global manufacturing strategy, complementing its plants in Europe, Asia and Canada to form a more resilient production network.
