Bismarck, Burleigh County, North Dakota — The North Dakota Department of Commerce announced on October 27 that the North Dakota Development Fund approved $6.3 million in financing during the third quarter of 2026 to support the growth and expansion of four North Dakota businesses, whose combined project costs total about $102.3 million. The approvals include a $325,000 loan to Vertical Malt of Grand Forks for working capital tied to its relocation to and expansion in North Dakota; a $925,000 loan to S&D Holdings of Bismarck to purchase a child care facility; a $5 million loan to Packet Digital to help finance construction of the Badlands Batteries drone battery manufacturing plant in Fargo; and a $95,000 loan to Prairie Education Group of Fargo for working capital and inventory. The four loans support business expansion, facility development and working capital needs. Established in 1991, the North Dakota Development Fund provides financing to qualifying businesses through loans and equity investments, aiming to fill funding gaps and support business development statewide. The Commerce Department says financing information is available on its website and eligible businesses may apply through the established process.
