Seahawks Trade for Eight-Time Pro Bowl Guard Quenton Nelson From Colts, Sending 2027 Third-Round and 2028 Fifth-Round Picks

Seattle, King County, Washington — The Seattle Seahawks reached a trade agreement with the Indianapolis Colts on October 27 to acquire eight-time Pro Bowl offensive guard Quenton Nelson, pending a physical.
According to October 27 reports by ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Seahawks sent a 2027 third-round draft pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick. Nelson, 30, was the sixth overall pick in the 2018 draft and was selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first eight seasons. He signed a four-year, $80 million extension with the Colts in 2022; this season is the final year of the deal, and he can become a free agent next March.
The Colts are in a rebuilding phase and dismissed general manager Chris Ballard last week. Seattle's offensive line had allowed quarterback Sam Darnold to be sacked five times in the two games before the Chiefs matchup, and Nelson's arrival is expected to stabilize the interior line and improve a rushing attack ranked 29th in the league in expected points added per rush. The Seahawks' next game is at home against the Chicago Bears on the night of November 2.
