Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts — Boston College men's basketball guard Jacob Furphy sprained his medial collateral ligament (MCL) in the team's 90-46 exhibition win over MIT on October 26 and is expected to miss two to six weeks, CBS Sports reporter Jon Rothstein reported on October 27.

Furphy had his leg landed on late in the second half and limped off the court with help from the team's training staff. Coming off the bench for 11 minutes in the game, he scored six points on 2-of-5 shooting, including 1-of-4 from three-point range, with one assist, one rebound and one steal.

Furphy, 6-foot-5 and 191 pounds, is from Tasmania, Australia, and transferred from the University of Connecticut, where he played 14 games as a freshman last season. He has represented Australia in national team competition at multiple levels and won gold.

Boston College opens its 2026-27 regular season at home against Wagner on November 3 at 7 p.m.; whether Furphy can return for the opener awaits further updates from the team.
