Indiana: Indianapolis Officer, 31, Arrested on DUI Charges in His Patrol Car, Faces Two Class A Misdemeanors

INDIANAPOLIS, Marion County, Indiana — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officer Chaise Watkins, 31, was arrested in the early hours of October 27 for driving drunk in his patrol car. The arrest took place in the 1500 block of Stadium Way in Indianapolis.
Watkins faces preliminary charges of two Class A misdemeanors: operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering another person, and a DUI charge in the tier of a blood alcohol concentration of 0.15 or higher. The 0.15 figure is the charging tier alleged by prosecutors, not a test result released by police; the case is at the preliminary-charge stage and will be decided by the court.
IMPD has not announced Watkins's duty status. The case will be referred to prosecutors through the normal process.
