Kansas: Children's Mercy Title-Sponsors the Heartland Youth Soccer Invitational, With Nearly 700 Teams Over Two Weekends
OVERLAND PARK, Johnson County, Kansas — The Heartland Soccer Association announced on October 27 that children's hospital Children's Mercy will be the title sponsor of the 2026 Heartland Youth Soccer Invitational. The tournament is expected to draw nearly 700 teams over two weekends: girls' teams from October 30 to November 1 and boys' teams from November 6 to 8, at the Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex and the Garmin Olathe Soccer Complex.
Mary Heinrich, a senior director at Children's Mercy, said in the association's release that title-sponsoring the tournament is part of the hospital's support for youth sports and community health. The Heartland Invitational is one of the Midwest's largest youth soccer tournaments, drawing teams from the Kansas City metro and surrounding states each year.
Large numbers of participating families are expected around both complexes during the tournament, and the association advises attendees to plan travel and lodging ahead.
