Minnesota: Rochester Woman, 56, Charged With Taking Over $75,300 in Public Benefits, Faces 14 Counts

ROCHESTER, Olmsted County, Minnesota — An Olmsted County criminal complaint charges local woman Michelle Miller, 56, with misreporting her household income and composition since 2010 to collect SNAP food benefits, Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) benefits, child care assistance and emergency assistance — more than $75,300 in total according to the complaint. She faces 14 counts of wrongfully obtaining assistance. Miller is charged, not convicted.
Investigators began looking into the case in March 2026, according to local reporting; Miller was arrested in August and is proceeding by summons, with a first court appearance set for early next year.
Prosecutors say cases of this kind are built on long-term comparisons between benefit records and reported income. The case will be heard in Olmsted County court, and its outcome rests with the court.
