Thomas Curitore, a former assistant director of code compliance for the City of Miami Beach, was arrested by the FBI this week in a federal child sexual exploitation case, the Miami Herald reported on Oct. 29. Curitore, 63, is a retired New York City police officer who served as Miami Beach's assistant code compliance director from May 2017 to January 2026, a tenure the city confirmed to the Herald.

FBI agents arrested him on Oct. 27 at his home outside Miami Beach and seized his electronic devices. According to a criminal complaint filed Oct. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Curitore allegedly sent a video depicting child sexual abuse to an undercover FBI agent on the messaging app Telegram, and allegedly discussed exchanging child images and paying for sex with children in follow-up messages.

The report stressed that the charges are allegations at this stage and that he has not been convicted. After his arrest he was held at the Federal Detention Center in Miami. Before joining Miami Beach city government, Curitore was a founding member and executive director of the Wynwood Business Improvement District in Miami, serving until 2017.
