Florida CPA Ronald St. Clair Sentenced to 18 Months for Evading More Than $2.2 Million in Taxes, Ordered to Pay $2.34 Million in Restitution

Monday, October 26, 2026 · Federal · GSM News

The Justice Department announced on October 26 that Ronald St. Clair, a Florida certified public accountant, was sentenced that day to 18 months in prison for evading payment of more than $2.2 million in income taxes and was ordered to pay $2,343,615.01 in restitution to the IRS; the case is part of the department's National Tax Fraud Enforcement Surge.

According to court documents, St. Clair owed income taxes for the 2011 through 2017 tax years. In 2020, after the IRS notified him of its intent to levy his assets, he sold real property, transferred the proceeds into a bank account held in a third party's name, and directed that the money be used for personal and business expenses, while concealing the funds as he sought an IRS payment plan. Over the years he hid income and assets in other people's names, held properties in business names rather than his own, and used layered business entities to obscure the flow of funds.

St. Clair had previously pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion. The sentence was announced by Acting Assistant Attorney General Colin M. McDonald and U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe for the Middle District of Florida; IRS Criminal Investigation investigated the case.
