The Golden State Warriors beat the Denver Nuggets 134-114 at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, on October 26 for their first win of the NBA season, avoiding their first 0-4 start since 2007-08. According to Reuters and the Associated Press, Warriors star Stephen Curry hit all eight of his field-goal attempts, including all three 3-pointers and all five free throws, scoring 24 points with 17 of them in the third quarter; rookie Yaxel Lendeborg scored a career-high 31 points with 12 rebounds and six assists.

Golden State had rested Curry, Brandin Podziemski, Draymond Green and Al Horford in Saturday's loss at Phoenix, and all four returned. The Warriors trailed by eight in the first quarter, took the lead early in the second on two Georges Niang 3-pointers, led 60-56 at halftime, stretched the margin to 100-84 after three quarters and by as many as 24 in the fourth; Denver never got closer than 13. Golden State shot 54.1 percent from the field, made 22 of 44 3-pointers and outrebounded Denver 50-36. Podziemski scored 18 points, Gui Santos 13 and Horford 11.

According to ESPN, Lendeborg's 87 points are the most by a Warriors rookie in his first four career games since Wilt Chamberlain in 1959, and the last Warriors rookie with a 30-point, 10-rebound, five-assist game was Curry himself in 2010. Asked whether he was surprising himself, Lendeborg said: 'Absolutely. Especially this game. I had 13 free throws. That's crazy. That's absurd for me.' Draymond Green said of him: 'He's able to impose his will on the game. I don't care what age you are -- it's the NBA.'

For Denver, DeMar DeRozan scored a team-high 21 points, Nikola Jokic had 19 points and 11 assists, Jamal Murray also scored 19 and Bryce Hopkins added 13. Aaron Gordon was ejected after two technical fouls with 8:34 remaining. Denver, which had rallied from 23 down to beat New Orleans in overtime on Saturday, could not repeat the comeback and gave up 74 second-half points.

Golden State next plays at the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night.
