Ridley Scott's The Dog Stars Arrives on Digital October 27: Jacob Elordi and Josh Brolin Star, 4K and DVD Editions Follow December 1
20th Century Studios has announced that The Dog Stars, the post-apocalyptic thriller directed by Ridley Scott, arrived on digital platforms on October 27, available to buy or rent through major digital retailers including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home. The film's 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD editions follow on December 1. The movie opened in North American theaters on August 28, and the digital launch marks the start of its home entertainment release.
Based on Peter Heller's 2012 bestselling novel of the same name, the film is set after a deadly flu pandemic has devastated civilization. Hig (Jacob Elordi), a young pilot, lives in an airport hangar in rural Colorado with his dog, Jasper; his only neighbor is Bangley (Josh Brolin), an ex-Marine and military survivalist. When a mysterious radio transmission reaches Hig, he ventures beyond the safety of his compound in search of the humanity he still believes exists. The cast also includes Margaret Qualley, Guy Pearce, Allison Janney and Benedict Wong.
According to the studio's release specifications, the film runs 118 minutes and is rated R. The digital edition is offered in 4K UHD, HD and SD, with English Dolby Atmos audio on supported platforms; the 4K disc edition is presented in Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos audio. All editions carry English SDH subtitles plus Spanish and French audio and subtitle options, varying by platform and retailer.
The home release also includes two sets of bonus features: the behind-the-scenes featurette The Making of The Dog Stars, and seven deleted scenes titled Jasper's Funeral, Hig Mourns, Welcome Dinner, Roaches' Warning, Hig & Cima, A Conversation With Pops and Airport Alternate Exit. The studio notes that bonus features may vary by product and retailer.
