Follow-Up: Challenged Athletes Foundation Raises $2,136,346 Through San Diego Triathlon Challenge, Tour de Cove and CAF Cycling Club

The Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) announced on Oct. 27 that its three-day weekend of adaptive sports at La Jolla Cove in San Diego County, California, raised a combined $2,136,346 to expand access to sport for people with physical disabilities, funding adaptive equipment, coaching, training and competition.
By event: the San Diego Triathlon Challenge fueled by Toyota raised $1,280,370; Tour de Cove presented by EōS Fitness raised a record-breaking $250,000, the highest total in the event's history; and the CAF Cycling Club raised $605,976 this year — the three figures sum exactly to the combined total. CAF said top individual fundraisers surpassed $80,000 and leading teams raised more than $170,000, and that grants were awarded to athletes throughout the weekend.
The San Diego Triathlon Challenge, CAF's flagship event, was held this year as a run-bike duathlon, with more than 150 athletes with physical disabilities taking part. GSM previously previewed and covered this year's event.
