HII Marks ROMULUS Unmanned Surface Vessel Production Milestone in New Iberia; Navy Orders 10 as Gov. Landry Attends Plaque Installation

NEW IBERIA, Iberia Parish, Louisiana — HII, America's largest military shipbuilder, held a ceremony in New Iberia on Oct. 27 celebrating a production milestone for the ROMULUS unmanned surface vessels (USVs) it is building for the U.S. Navy. Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry; Vice Adm. Michael Wosje, deputy chief of naval operations for warfighting requirements and capabilities (N9); HII President and CEO Chris Kastner; and Breaux Brothers Enterprises President Brannon Breaux attended, and a commemorative hull plaque was installed on the first ROMULUS 151 vessel.
The ROMULUS USVs are part of the Navy's medium unmanned surface vessel program. The Navy recently awarded HII a contract to build 10 ROMULUS 151 vessels. HII said the ceremony honored the state's skilled shipbuilding workforce, regional shipbuilding partners and advanced manufacturing capabilities supporting the program, which strengthens the role of Louisiana and the Gulf Coast maritime industrial base in delivering next-generation autonomous maritime capabilities, sustaining skilled shipbuilding jobs and reinforcing national security.
