Saco's Meg Parkhurst Named Maine's 2027 Assistant Superintendent of the Year
SACO, York County, Maine — Meg Parkhurst, assistant superintendent of the Saco school district, was named Maine's 2027 Assistant Superintendent of the Year by the Maine School Superintendents Association on Oct. 28, with the honor announced at the association's annual meeting. Parkhurst has served as Saco's assistant superintendent since 2021 and has worked in Maine public education for more than 20 years; she was selected for driving meaningful educational improvement, fostering strong community partnerships and inspiring colleagues.
Saco Superintendent Jeremy Ray said Parkhurst is not afraid to deliver tough messages when needed and communicates the district's needs with honesty, clarity and conviction — the courage that defines true leadership — and that the district's schools are stronger for her vision and professionalism, adding his personal gratitude for all she does for students, staff and the community.
The association said the statewide honor recognizes assistant superintendents who excel in student achievement, community collaboration and commitment to public education.
