Follow-Up: Lakers Rule Out Doncic Against the Clippers With Back Tightness After His 41-Point Night, With No Return Timetable

LOS ANGELES, Los Angeles County, California — The Los Angeles Lakers released an injury report on October 28 ruling guard Luka Doncic out of that night's game against the crosstown Los Angeles Clippers with back tightness, with no timetable announced for his return. The decision came ahead of the second game of a back-to-back set.
The night before (October 27), the Lakers lost 136-129 on the road to the Portland Trail Blazers, their first defeat of the season. Doncic played 36 minutes in that game, shooting 12 of 22 from the field and 6 of 15 from three-point range for 41 points and 9 assists; Austin Reaves added 26 points, but the Lakers were outpaced in the fourth quarter. Doncic has been the Lakers' primary offensive engine early in the season, and his absence forces the team to reorganize its offense against the Clippers.
The same injury report listed three other Lakers as out: Ziaire Williams (left foot soreness), Cameron Carr (right oblique) and Adou Thiero (left knee).
