MISSOULA, Missoula County, Montana — District Judge Tara Elliot on October 28 sentenced Ronald Duggin to 30 years in prison for the 2023 shooting death of Jeremiah Marker in Bonner, who died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The sentence suspends 10 of the 30 years, imposes a 15-year parole restriction and orders $4,410 in restitution; additional fines were waived because of Duggin's inability to pay. In August, a jury convicted Duggin of mitigated deliberate homicide, finding he acted under extreme mental or emotional stress during the 2023 incident.

Deputies from the Missoula County Sheriff's Office responded to the shooting scene in Bonner.
