OREGON CITY, Clackamas County, Oregon — A 10-year-old girl who was abducted from a residence in Canby early on October 28 was rescued the same day in Oregon City, and the kidnapping suspect, Vince Edgar Chavez, was arrested, the U.S. Marshals Service announced.

After the Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force (PNVOTF) located Chavez at a residence in the 500 block of Pleasant Avenue in Oregon City, a joint team — including the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office SWAT team, the Oregon City Police Department, the Washington County Tactical Negotiation Team and the FBI — entered the residence. Chavez was taken into custody while attempting to flee through the rear of the home. The victim was found tied up in a closet inside the residence and was transported to a local medical facility. The Marshals Service did not release the child's name.

"Law enforcement personnel mobilized and conducted a collaborative search and rescue operation, recovering a child who was taken from her home," said Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Eddie Sanchez. "The USMS is honored to work alongside our local and state partners as we tirelessly pursue those who present a danger to our community and bring them to justice."
