Arizona Cardinals Re-Sign Receiver Zay Jones on October 28 to Replace Brooks, Out for Season After Wrist Surgery

The Arizona Cardinals announced on October 28 that they have re-signed veteran wide receiver Zay Jones to fill the vacancy left by Jalen Brooks. Brooks, who needs surgery on an injured wrist, has been placed on injured reserve and is out for the season.
Head coach Mike LaFleur had said on October 26 that the team would first rotate its existing receivers, but the Cardinals ultimately chose to sign a veteran familiar with the system. Jones played for Arizona in 2024 and 2025, appearing in 19 games over two seasons with 20 catches for 267 yards. He was reportedly one of four receivers who worked out for the team on October 27.
Since entering the league in 2017, Jones has totaled more than 300 career receptions for nearly 3,300 yards and 18 touchdowns, though he has not played more than 11 games in a season since 2022. The Cardinals' receiver group also includes Michael Wilson, Kendrick Bourne, Devin Duvernay, Simi Fehoko and rookie Reggie Virgil.
The team's latest depth chart also shows Wilson moving to a starting outside receiver spot, with Bourne starting on the other side. Jones's return gives the team an experienced rotation option for the second half of the season.
