On the night of October 27, 2026, in Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee, the University of Tennessee women's basketball team opened its preseason at home with a 132-63 rout of Florida A&M, a strong start to head coach Kim Caldwell's third season.

Tennessee made 49 of 101 field goal attempts, dominated the boards 58-25 and scored 42 second-chance points. The Lady Vols forced 37 turnovers and converted them into 45 points, with full-court pressure defense the key to the win.

Kaylin Smikle led the team with 19 points, and freshman Naomi White debuted with 16 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds and 4 steals; eight players scored in double figures, showing the roster's depth. Tennessee led 77-27 at halftime and went 23 of 25 from the free throw line, a 92 percent mark that Caldwell singled out with satisfaction after the game.

Late in the game, starting point guard Kennedy Fuentetroy went down with a suspected left knee injury and left the court with help from the training staff. Caldwell said afterward that the initial check was optimistic and that the player would see a doctor for further evaluation on October 28.

The Lady Vols, with 15 new players, will host Duquesne at home next Monday night to officially open the 2026-27 regular season.
