Texas Left Tackle Trevor Goosby Out for the Season with a Knee Injury; a Major Blow to Arch Manning's Blind-Side Protection

Word came out of Austin, Travis County, Texas, on October 28, 2026, that University of Texas left tackle Trevor Goosby will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. Goosby was hurt in the October 24 game against Ole Miss. The specific injury has not been disclosed, but head coach Steve Sarkisian said the knee "doesn't look good," and ESPN reporter Pete Thamel has also reported that Goosby will not play again this season.
At 6 feet 7 inches and 325 pounds, Goosby is the primary blind-side protector for quarterback Arch Manning, and he had ranked 15th in the odds for the first overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. Though a run at the top pick is now essentially out of reach, he is still projected as a first-round selection unless the injury proves extremely serious.
Goosby has one year of college eligibility left, and his name, image and likeness earnings this season are believed to exceed $1 million. He could also choose to return to school in 2027 for another year, improving his draft stock with a richer deal and a stronger season. Manning began this season as the favorite to be the 2027 draft's first pick, but his play has not matched that expectation, and discussion has begun about whether he might stay in school through 2027 and target the 2028 draft.
Texas hosts Mississippi State at home this Saturday night, and Manning will face a sterner test without his blind-side protector.
