Kansas: Atchison, Brown and Marshall Counties Receive Over $2.6 Million in Broadband Grants to Connect 258 Homes and Businesses

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly announced on October 28 that Atchison, Brown and Marshall counties will receive more than $2.6 million in state Broadband Acceleration Grants to connect 258 businesses and homes.
Rainbow Communications will receive more than $614,000 to connect 104 businesses and homes in Atchison and Brown counties, while Blue Valley Technologies will be awarded nearly $1.8 million to serve 154 businesses and homes in Marshall County.
The awards are part of a $12.9 million statewide broadband initiative, supplemented by nearly $14 million in private and local investment. GSM reported the program's statewide rollout across 44 rural counties on October 22; this story covers the specific awards for the three northeastern Kansas counties. State officials say the program supports remote work, telehealth, education and business activity in rural areas.
