A history exhibition in the Chinatown neighborhood of Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, is open to the public at 213 N 11th Street, Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed Mondays and Tuesdays, with free admission.

The Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation (PCDC), which curated the exhibition, presents it under the theme “This is, was, and will be Chinatown.” Through photographs, personal belongings, community artifacts and oral histories, the exhibition tells more than 150 years of Chinatown history, including a history timeline, a 1982 streetscape collage, case files documenting individual lives under the Chinese Exclusion Act, and grassroots community newsletters.

For more than 150 years, the organizers note, Chinese immigrants and their descendants have built homes, businesses and institutions in Chinatown while facing discrimination, exclusion and displacement. The curatorial team is Haoyi Shang and Sophia Wan.
