LA28 Unveils 'Stars Align' as Official Slogan of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in 62-Second Film

LOS ANGELES, Los Angeles County, California — The Los Angeles Organizing Committee for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games (LA28) unveiled “Stars Align” as the official slogan of the Games on October 28, launching it worldwide with a 62-second campaign film. The Los Angeles Olympics open on July 14, 2028, about 625 days away.

The film, released on LA28's official channels, is set to “Can't Stop” by Los Angeles natives Red Hot Chili Peppers and showcases Southern California landmarks, including the Hollywood Sign seen from the Griffith Park trails, Griffith Observatory and the city's golden-hour light.

LA28 Chairperson and President Casey Wasserman described the slogan as a call to action for athletes, volunteers and fans alike. Chief Marketing Officer Alex Merchán said the phrase is not about luck: it marks the moment when years of preparation meet opportunity, and he noted that the greatest moments in sport do not just happen — athletes work their whole lives for them.

“Stars Align” follows the host-city slogan tradition: Rio 2016 chose “A New World,” Tokyo 2020 “United by Emotion,” and Paris 2024 “Games Wide Open.” Los Angeles has its own history with stars — the 1984 Los Angeles Games emblem was called “Stars in Motion” — and Merchán noted that the 50 stars of the U.S. flag stand for the 50 states the Olympic torch relay will visit for the first time in 2028.

The Olympic Games run July 14–30, 2028, followed by the Paralympic Games on August 15–27 — Los Angeles' third Olympics and its first-ever Paralympics, with about 15,000 athletes expected. The organizing committee said its “Local Authentic” program will bring local small businesses into the Games' vendor network, part of a slogan meant to include the workforce, volunteers and small businesses delivering the event.

The organizing committee has disabled embedding of the film on outside websites; it can be watched on LA28's official channel: LA28 official film “Stars Align”.
