Secretary of War Hegseth Meets India's Rajnath Singh: One Year of the U.S.-India Major Defense Partnership Framework

U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth met Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on October 28 in Cebu, the Philippines, on the sidelines of the 13th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus). The two marked the one-year anniversary of the Framework for the U.S.-India Major Defense Partnership and reviewed progress under the ten-year India-U.S. Defence Framework.
Hegseth said in a social media post: "Great meeting with Indian Minister of Defence Singh. We celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Framework for our Major Defence Partnership and explored ways to strengthen cooperation." India's Ministry of Defence said the two ministers reviewed the framework's progress in driving strategic convergence across military technology, information sharing, and co-production, with emphasis on accelerating operational readiness, technology sharing, and defence industrial integration, and discussed expanding military-to-military exchanges, strengthening maritime security cooperation, and integrating defence supply chains. Bilateral defense cooperation also includes joint exercises such as Yudh Abhyas.
India's Defence Ministry described the robust U.S.-India partnership as a cornerstone for a free, open, and secure Indo-Pacific. India is an ASEAN dialogue partner, and Singh is leading the Indian delegation to this year's ADMM-Plus, held on October 28-29.
