CBP Officers Seize Over $290,000 in Cocaine at Laredo Port of Entry

Laredo — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced on October 28 that CBP officers at the Laredo Port of Entry in Texas seized a load of cocaine valued at more than $290,000 during inspection operations.
The Laredo port is one of the busiest land cargo and passenger crossings on the U.S.–Mexico border, where CBP frontline officers inspect inbound vehicles, cargo and travelers to interdict drugs, contraband and unlawful entry. CBP said its officers consistently demonstrate vigilance at the port, and the cocaine was intercepted at the border inspection point before it could enter the United States.
CBP, the largest federal law enforcement agency within the Department of Homeland Security, is responsible for inspection and enforcement at U.S. ports of entry and along the borders; cocaine is among the drugs most frequently seized at southern border ports, typically in vehicle and cargo inspections.
