Rain Coming to Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona, for Halloween Weekend: Heaviest on November 1, with About 2 More Inches at Higher Elevations

The Phoenix area of Maricopa County, Arizona, will see a round of rain over Halloween weekend, according to a forecast issued on October 28, 2026. The middle of Saturday, October 31, is expected to remain mostly cloudy and relatively calm, but the chance of isolated showers rises into the evening, and late-night revelers have a higher likelihood of catching stray storms. Sunday, November 1, is meant to be the greater rainfall day, with rain beginning in the morning, peaking during the middle of the day and fading by the evening, leaving clarity by Monday, November 2. Sunday's moisture comes from a modest atmospheric river, in a more traditional pattern in which the trough brings moisture from the southwest, with the heaviest totals expected along the Mogollon Rim and in southeastern Arizona. Higher elevations of central Arizona could add another 2 inches of precipitation, while lower elevations could see an additional half inch to 1 inch, with locally higher totals possible with thunderstorms. With the two rainfall events close in time, localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Highs on Friday, October 30, and Saturday will stay in the 70s, Sunday may fall to the 60s, and lows on all three nights should stay in the 60s. There has not been measurable rain during a Phoenix Halloween since 1988.
