Denver Water in Denver, Denver County, Colorado, voted unanimously on October 28 to approve its 2027 rate increase, which will add about $3.24 to the average monthly household bill, it was reported on October 29. Under the new rates, the average monthly bill for a single-family Denver customer will rise from $56.97 to $60.21, generating about 6% more revenue overall, with individual increases depending on water use and where customers live; drought-period rates will also rise. The utility last raised rates in January of this year, and this increase is part of the 2027 rate and drought-rate package. Denver Water Chief Financial Officer Angela Bricmont said in a statement that the 2027 rates and drought rates address the unprecedented conditions being faced and respond to the need to ensure Denver Water's system is protected and remains financially stable.
