Timberwolves Star Anthony Edwards to Undergo Right Knee Arthroscopic Surgery, Expected Out About Two Months

MINNEAPOLIS, Hennepin County, Minnesota — Minnesota Timberwolves president of basketball operations Tim Connelly confirmed on Oct. 28 that star guard Anthony Edwards will undergo an arthroscopic cleanup procedure on his right knee within the next 24 hours. Edwards is expected to miss about two months, though the exact timeline will depend on his recovery.
Connelly said the injury is not a meniscus tear, and that the most recent imaging had changed compared with scans going back to the summer, encouraging the team to address it quickly. "He wants to play tonight," Connelly said. "He looked pretty good the other night having the 47, but we're just concerned about his long-term health. We want to make sure we put him in his best position to be the best version he's gonna be for a long time." Connelly added the team does not believe the procedure will cost Edwards the season and that he will be "good as new."
Edwards, 25, was off to the best start of his career, averaging 33.3 points through the first four games. On Oct. 26 in Cleveland, playing through knee discomfort that had landed him on the injury report as questionable, he scored 47 points in 41 minutes in a 127-125 overtime loss to the Cavaliers.
