Gov. Josh Shapiro announced on October 28 that Superior Huntingdon Composites LLC will invest $4.4 million to expand its fiberglass manufacturing operations in Huntingdon Borough, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, creating 26 new jobs over the next three years and retaining 74 existing full-time positions, with the Commonwealth investing more than $1.8 million in the project.

The state's support consists of a $1,687,757 Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) loan and a $200,000 Pennsylvania First grant. The expansion will reactivate a third production line at the company's facility at 1200 Susquehanna Avenue that has been idled since 2012.

Superior Huntingdon Composites manufactures fiberglass continuous filament mat and veil used in the defense, power and energy, building materials, transportation, infrastructure and marine industries. President and CEO Jason Takac said the company has been fiberizing glass in Huntingdon for over five decades and that the expansion builds on that legacy.

Shapiro said manufacturing is a cornerstone of Pennsylvania's economy and that his administration will keep backing expansions that create jobs. Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Rick Siger called the project an example of the Commonwealth's partnership with local employers. According to the governor's office, the Shapiro administration has secured more than $43 billion in private-sector investment and roughly 29,000 jobs since taking office.
